LANDCARE IN INDONESIA

At the invitation of the Institute of Forest and Environment (INFRONT), in November 2008 and August 2009 Sue Marriott and Victoria Mack, Directors of SILC, travelled to Yogyakarta, Indonesia to learn about INFRONT’s projects and share Australian and International Landcare experiences with members of the Samiran and Lencoh farming communities, and INFRONT staff and Board members. SILC decided to help INFRONT find resources to further develop a Merapi Landcare Association and facilitate ongoing links to Australian and International Landcare projects and networks. SILC is very pleased to be able to announce that in November 2009 the Government of Finland, through its Local Cooperation Fund, agreed to fund the INFRONT project for three years, 2009 - 2012.
